It’s been a busy couple of months since our last edition and we are excited to have launched our new TopicUK Businesswoman section.
Illustrated by the lovely ladies at Buttercrumble, this new regular section will bring to readers features, close to the heart of all women, there will be interviews with inspirational business women leaders from across our region, and as we know working women are so busy, tips on how to eat healthily, dress from boardroom to cocktail bar and how to look the part.
In our first edition we caught up with handbag designer Sarah Haran who, despite owning many handbags, mostly designer, couldn’t find one to suit her needs, so she created her own collection! I have been lucky enough to have been carrying The Dahlia from the signature collection and I can honestly say, it’s not been far from my side for the past couple of months. Read the full story on page 80.
Early August saw the return of the Underneath The Stars Festival, held annually in Cawthorne, South Yorkshire. Although we were unable to get there this year, we did manage to catch up with Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey, Fat Friends, Little Britain) and you can read her interview on page 82.
The Forward Ladies annual awards are fast approaching and as media partners, we will be at the lunch at the end of November. We will be bringing you a round up of that, alongside a feature with CEO Griselda Tobago in our January edition. If you haven’t booked your place, hurry, you might just manage to squeeze a place at this amazing lunch at Dock Hall.
We also teamed up with John Lewis & Partners who launched their new personal shopping experience and who better to go along and try out the service than TopicUK business executive Mandy Taylor. Read how she got on on page 84.
We were delighted to receive some samples to try from Power Health. Set up by mother and daughter duo with headquarters in York, the firm has recently expanded to cope with demand. We also sampled candles from Carol Robertson that smell divine and make the perfect gift or even treat for yourself. Page 86.
Last week we were invited to Lambert’s Yard in Leeds to The Capsule event. Set up by Natalie Anderson (Emmerdale, Fat Friends) The Capsule is an online platform for women, covering health, beauty, fashion, food etc and features a whole host of businesses hand picked by Natalie. We are delighted to announce that Natalie will be writing for TopicUK regularly from our next edition, with hints and tips for our women business readers. We also met the lovely team from Clock Face an organic, vegan friendly company who have developed a range of gorgeous skincare products. I am delighted that I got my hands on a couple of products from the range and starting from today, they will be a part of my regular skincare routine. I’ll let you know how I get on.
Also joining us as a regular features writer from next edition is Laura Bartlett from House of Coco Magazine. Laura travels the world reviewing hotels, resorts and destinations and will be sharing her adventures with TopicUK readers and keeping us up to date of where the best places are to go, not just for business, but pleasure too.
