Kirklees College is hosting a series of Virtual Open Days from 2 – 4 March to support its prospective higher education students who are considering a new career or wanting to further their learning.
Following the launch of the Pioneer Higher Skills Centre in Dewsbury last year, the college is pioneering higher education in West Yorkshire by offering degree-level courses designed to increase the skills of local people and enhance their career prospects.
The online events programme will take place via the Kirklees College website, where people will be able to attend webinars about the college’s HNC/HND courses, Access to Higher Education courses and apprenticeships in areas such as Art and Design, Animal Management, Business, Childhood Education, Construction, Computing, Engineering and Policing.
The specialist teaching team will also be available to talk to online during the Q&A sessions via Microsoft Teams to guide students through the full-time and part-time vocational study programmes available to fit around their family and other commitments, as well as virtual centre tours and additional information about support and careers services.
Philippa Firth, Assistant Principal for Adults and Higher Education at Kirklees College said: “As the education sector continues to respond to the pandemic, we expect to see greater demand for jobs in many of the vocational subject areas we offer at Kirklees College. Our new learning facility dedicated to higher skills and higher education will allow us to open up opportunities for local people and we encourage those seeking a specialist route into employment or the next stage of their education to sign up to see how we can support their next steps.”
