Ison Harrison announces fourth successive employee profit share bonus

Yorkshire law firm Ison Harrison has awarded £5,000 per person to each eligible employee as part of its annual profit share bonus. The payout follows another strong year of growth, marking the fourth successive year that staff have benefited from the firm’s successful employee-owned structure.

The bonus payment follows last year’s £4,000 distribution and reflects the firm’s sustained success since 2022, when the firm made the pioneering move to become one of the UK’s first large law firms to become 100% employee-owned. This forward-thinking structure has been a catalyst for dynamic growth, fuelling substantial client expansion and the addition of new offices to its regional network.

The announcement comes during a year of major expansion and investment. In 2025, the firm acquired specialist law firms Armstrong Luty and Savage Crangle and has continued to modernise its branch network, including a new reception area at its Leeds head office designed to support clients and colleagues as the firm grows.

Despite the scale of this investment, Ison Harrison’s profit share distribution demonstrates the continued strength of the business and the positive impact of employee ownership in driving long term performance.
With over 430 staff and 24 offices across the region, the firm has cemented its place as one of Yorkshire’s most significant legal practices.
Managing director Jonathan Wearing said: “This is another proud moment for the firm and a clear sign of how our employee ownership model continues to deliver shared success. Every member of the team has played a part in our growth over the past year, from the integration of new acquisitions to the continued development of our branches and services.

“The profit share is a direct result of their ongoing commitment and the collective spirit that makes this firm what it is. As we enter our fifth year as an employee-owned business, the benefits are clear for both our people and our clients.”

Since the move to employee ownership, Ison Harrison has seen considerable expansion across its regional footprint, investing in new teams, new offices and enhanced client facilities. The firm has consistently outperformed expectations, achieving record turnover and receiving national recognition as ‘Highly Commended’ at the UK Employee Ownership Awards.

As one of the earliest adopters of employee ownership in the legal sector, the firm also launched a dedicated advisory service to support other businesses exploring the transition to an Employee Ownership Trust, sharing its own experience of how the model can deliver stability, innovation and growth.

Ison Harrison continues to be one of the region’s fastest growing legal practices, with turnover expected to exceed £35m in 2025. Ison Harrison offer one of the broadest range of legal services in Yorkshire and are focused on maintaining strong staff wellbeing, client care and long-term investment.
