Hotel Indigo Leeds Recognised for its sustainability credentials with prestigious award win

Hotel Indigo Leeds has been recognised by Greengage for its sustainability credentials, having received the ECOsmart Silver Award certification, just eight weeks after opening.

Awarded to hotels, venues and travel companies with a comprehensive approach to environmental sustainability through practices like energy efficiency, waste management and sustainable sourcing, the Greengage ECOsmart certification serves as a mark of commitment to continuous improvement in environmental responsibility.

Part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo Leeds is demonstrating the group’s commitment to responsible travel through its Journey to Tomorrow initiative, with the award marking the first milestone for the hotel in the sustainability space.

It was Hotel Indigo Leeds’ commitment to a sustainable food and drink offering that scored particularly highly, being ranked at 88 per cent, closely followed by the rooms and facilities, and waste management, both of which exceeded a score of 70 per cent.

Speaking on the award win, Simon Grace, general manager commented: “Having been open for just six weeks, it’s brilliant to receive our first award. Sustainability is such an important aspect for Hotel Indigo Leeds, and we’re thrilled to have been recognised for our hard work and commitment in this area. We hope this is the first of many awards to come, as Hotel Indigo Leeds makes its mark on the city and the wider travel and hospitality scene.”
