A charity golf day arranged by Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West has raised £11,000 for its charity of the year, Candlelighters.

19 teams made up of 76 golfers, including Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ employees and sub-contractors, took part in the tournament which was held at Garforth Golf Club in Leeds.

The funds raised have been donated to Candlelighters to support its work providing crucial care and support for families affected by childhood cancer.

2024 marked Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West’s longstanding six-year partnership with the charity, raising more than £70,000 in that time. Most recently, the team supported the charity’s ‘Pink it Up’ campaign in June.

Iain Blackwood Hobbs, partnerships executive at Candlelighters, said: “Thank you so much to Barratt Homes Yorkshire West for organising another incredible golf day for Candlelighters. The £11,000 raised on the Golf Day allows Candlelighters to continue providing vital, practical, emotional, and financial support to so many families in Yorkshire who are sadly affected by childhood cancer.

“We can’t thank the team enough for their support over the past six years and for doing so much in this successful partnership.”

Throughout the day, there were a variety of additional competitions which included ‘nearest to the pin’ and ‘longest drive’, as well as a raffle that players could enter.

Gavin Birch, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, said: “We were delighted to host this golf day for our sub-contractors to raise funds for Candlelighters to help the charity continue the important work it does.

“We’d like to thank everyone who participated in our annual golf day for another year. This day helps to support such a great cause and we hope everyone involved had a good day.”
