Home Instead York celebrates its 16th anniversary with the launch of its inaugural Care Professional Conference, an event focussed on prioritising and enhancing the wellbeing of its dedicated care professionals. This milestone also coincides with Home Instead Scarborough & Ryedale’s 5th anniversary, marking five years of exceptional care and unwavering commitment to the local community.
The conference, held at St Aelred’s Community Centre last week, brought together a range of local wellbeing experts to offer practical advice and inspiration for those on the frontlines of care. The event was hosted by managing director Ann-Marie Roche and her team and featured presentations from yoga and mindfulness practitioner, personal trainer, nutritionist and a mobility expert. Attendees were empowered with knowledge designed to improve their own health and well-being while better supporting their clients.
This celebration comes just after Home Instead was ranked the 3rd Best Employer in the UK by The Financial Times, a testament to the company’s ongoing commitment to prioritising the wellbeing of its employees.
Ann-Marie Roche, emphasised the importance of supporting care professionals, stating: “Our care professionals are our greatest asset. Their health and wellbeing is of paramount importance to us and it is essential for us to know that they are happy and healthy so that they are able to continue to provide high-quality, reliable support to all of our clients.”
The conference was well-received by all attendees, who praised the opportunity to learn new skills to enhance both their personal health and the care they deliver.
Mike Gray, personal trainer and Nutritionist and founder of Aksis Lifestyle, shared his thoughts: “It’s fantastic to see Home Instead prioritising employee wellbeing. A healthy workforce leads to better care for clients.”
Lou Harrand, founder of Yogabomb and mindfulness expert, added: “Self-care is integral to care professionals. We often neglect ourselves while caring for others, so it’s inspiring to see Home Instead recognising this and taking meaningful action.”
Nicola, a Home Instead York care professional, spoke about her experience at the conference: “Home Instead is really invested in its staff. This conference was a great opportunity to come together, learn new skills, and share ideas that will help us in our daily work. I feel more equipped to care for my clients.”
Janette Town, known as ‘The Chair Lady,’ demonstrated seat-based exercises designed for people of all ages and abilities to improve their strength, mobility, and overall health. She stated: “Simple exercises can have a profound impact on our quality of life. I love that Home Instead is leading the way in recognising the importance of these exercises and making them accessible for all. It’s a brilliant way to improve care in the home.”
By hosting this inaugural care professional conference, Home Instead is redefining care in its truest sense—shifting the focus from just looking after clients to deeply investing in the wellbeing, growth, and recognition of the extraordinary individuals who make that care possible. This event is a bold step toward ensuring care professionals are equipped, supported, and celebrated for the invaluable work they do every day.
