One of Wharfedale’s most historic hotels has pledged its support to families in need by becoming a patron of a leading Yorkshire children’s charity.
Ilkley’s Craiglands Hotel has announced its patronage of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity which provides free respite holidays to children who are underprivileged, disadvantaged, disabled, have life-limiting conditions, or who have experienced poverty, trauma or abuse.
Established in 1859, the Craiglands was built at the peak of the hydrotherapy movement, becoming one of the largest purpose-built hydropathic establishments in the country. Today the hotel continues its tradition as a wellbeing venue, complete with a spa, fitness centre, restaurant, bar and conference facilities.
Owned by the Ailantus Hotel Group and employing around 80 staff, the landmark hotel recently announced plans to refurbish all 63 of its ensuite bedrooms.
Launched in 2011, The Principle Trust Children’s Charity was established by Ilkley businessman Mike Davies, MBE. Over the past decade the Trust has raised over £1m, purchased a collection of holiday homes and provided respite breaks for over 4000 children across the Yorkshire region.
Making the announcement Mike said, ‘We are delighted that The Craiglands Hotel has joined The Trust as a patron; their support will enable us to help more needy children across the Yorkshire region.’
Hotel General Manager Ajay Kodavati commented, ‘We are proud to be joining The Principle Trust as patrons, and helping to provide free respite holidays for poorly and disadvantaged children in Wharfedale and further afield.’
The hotel will kickstart its pledge on Saturday 17th September by hosting a Bond-themed gala ball to raise funds for the Trust.
