Hat-trick of corporate supporters latest to back homelessness charity
A West Yorkshire homelessness charity has signed up three supporters to its corporate partnership scheme.
Simon on the Streets welcomed Leeds-based IT support firm, Everon and Huddersfield-based Inspired Kitchens to its 5 for 5 scheme at the end of 2020 with the charity’s newest member, Leeds-based independent bottlers, Peg Whisky joining soon after.
During lockdown, Simon on the Streets switched its face-to-face meetings to virtual video gatherings which saw an increased attendance of 50%. The charity has continued to host monthly networking events for its corporate partners, creating a space to network with each other and engage with the charity by sharing ideas and learning about the work it has been doing throughout the pandemic.
Simon on the Streets Business Development Manager, Fahad Khan comments:
“Whilst the current pandemic meant we had to move our meetings online, the move to virtual events has seen an increased interest from new partners in recent months and we’re delighted to welcome Everon, Inspired Kitchens and Peg Whisky to our programme which now boasts 15 supporters.”
Peg Whisky was founded in early 2020 by brothers Kully and Manny determined to create a whisky that was personal to them and that everyone could enjoy.
Jas, Global Account Manager for Peg Whisky adds: “Our main office is based in Leeds and one of the directors is also from Yorkshire. We wanted to support and partner up with a local charity and we came across Simon on the Streets. Our team felt the 5 for 5 programme was a great project to get involved with. Homelessness is a real problem in the UK and the work Simon on the Streets does makes a real difference to the people it supports.
“This partnership means a lot to us as we want to help and try to make a difference, even if one person benefits from the work they do then that’s something to be proud of and it’s something we want to be a part of. Both Peg Whisky’s directors have done a lot of charitable work in the past and will continue to do so. We look forward to attending the next Big Sleepout with Simon to show our continued support.”
Fahad, continues: “After speaking with Jas, it was clear how passionate and determined she and her colleagues at Peg Whisky are to supporting their local community and those most vulnerable. We are delighted they’ve joined our 5 for 5 corporate partnership and are committed to supporting our long-term sustainability. We’re really looking forward to working with them in 2021 and beyond!”
Simon on the Streets 5 for 5 virtual networking events continue with the first event held this Thursday 21st January, 1-2pm with the charity discussing its work during lockdown 3.0.
