Ground-breaking antibacterial mist treatment launched
The onus will be on business owners to prepare for the new way of working post-lockdown. With the government keen to restart the economy and reduce restrictions from today, workspace hygiene will be the first of many new challenges faced by businesses.
Yorkshire-based Key West Pest Control has successfully pivoted its offering to provide a ground-breaking antibacterial mist treatment, in line with the following guidance from The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC):
“Premises and areas potentially contaminated with SARS-CoV-2 should be cleaned before their re-use, using products containing antimicrobial agents known to be effective against coronaviruses”.
The team of designated key workers at Key West Pest Control have introduced the new, comprehensive and non-invasive treatment - which uses benzalkonium chloride, one of the antimicrobial agents recommended by the EDRC as effective against different coronaviruses - as part of their hygiene services.
This ground-breaking method is a superior and highly effective alternative to costly, time-consuming and labour-intensive conventional office deep-cleaning services.
Killing the virus on all hard surfaces, Key West Pest Control‘s antibacterial mist treatment is used in combination with a thorough high touch point clean, which disinfects hard-touch areas such as handles, removing the risk across the work environment.
Sean Mclean, CEO of Key West Pest Control said: “With the rush of people returning to work that we will witness over the coming months, firms will have to take extra precautions and rethink their existing hygiene processes.
“Our antibacterial mist treatment is rapid and cost effective. It can be used as a one-off tool in preparation for readying workspaces for exit from lockdown, or as part of an on-going programme to ensure premises are regularly disinfected, minimising the risk from harmful coronaviruses for staff and customers.”
With the ever-present concern of a second peak and the necessity for sanitation, demand for industrial deep cleaning has soared. Retailers, restaurants, bars, offices and other places of work have approached Key West Pest Control to disinfect their premises.
One customer, who wishes to remain anonymous due to the nature of their business, cites the valid concerns from anxious employees and customers as the main reason for seeking antibacterial mist treatment:
“Our staff are naturally worried about returning to the workplace, and of course we want to reassure our customers too. We felt comforted by this treatment because it’s relatively non-invasive, fast-acting and backed by sturdy research.”
According to the World Health Organisation, “It is not certain how long the virus that causes COVID-19 survives on surfaces, but studies suggest that coronaviruses may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days.”
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control lists benzalkonium chloride as one of the antimicrobial agents effective against different coronaviruses.
The causative agent involved in the current outbreaks of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), SARS-CoV-2 (genus: Betacoronavirus), belongs to the family of Coronaviridae, a large family of enveloped, positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses. Coronaviruses are transmitted in most instances through large respiratory droplets and contact transmission, but other modes of transmission have also been proposed1.
