Rotherham-based IT disposal experts, S2S Electronics Limited, has secured six-figure funding to drive forward its ambitious growth plans and reach its target of becoming a net zero business by 2050.

The £975,000 funding package from NatWest will enable S2S Electronics to purchase its current premises, which it had previously leased, on Farfield Industrial Park.

The business moved to its current 25,000sq ft site two years ago, establishing a multi-purpose space, including offices, secure storage, and specialist areas for the disposal of IT equipment.

Purchasing the site will enable S2S Electronic to take the first step towards its pledge to creating a net zero business by 2050. Removing carbon emissions from its operations, has been a long-term ambition for the firm, which commissions an annual carbon footprint report to monitor its impact.

In addition to the funding from NatWest, S2S Electronics has secured funding from Innovate UK to further support future recycling of IT equipment projects. The latest round of funding focuses on the recycling of LEDs for the extraction of the precious metal, Gallium.

As part of its growth plans, the firm plans to create an additional ten jobs, adding to its 30 strong workforce in the region.

Alan Dukinfield, director, said: “Since the change in management eight years ago, S2S has successfully built on its profits year on year. These increased funds have allowed us to move forward and work towards our climate change agenda.

“S2S Electronics is pleased to announce it will be pledging its commitment in the race to net zero carbon emissions, and the support from NatWest will allow us to make the necessary steps to get there.”

Senior relationship manager at NatWest, Paul McCarron, said: “NatWest have established a long-term relationship with S2S. Initially, supporting the current management team at S2S to purchase the majority share of the business in 2006.
