FC Humber Utd scores sponsorship from Aon
Leading global professional services firm Aon plc has been unveiled as the main club sponsor for semi-professional football club FC Humber Utd.
Aon, which provides its Humber-based clients, from SMEs to large corporates, with a broad range of risk and health solutions, has agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with FC Humber Utd. The deal will enable the club, which plays in division one of the Northern Counties East Football League, to deliver its Community Foundation initiative including its school partnership programme, school holiday (multi-sports) camps, Tiny Tots football sessions, community club partnership and free park sessions.
In addition, the sponsorship deal will mean that the club, which has its home ground at Selby Town FC, can build on its charity partnerships that include Sands United FC, which supports men and their families who have been affected by the loss of a baby; Stroke Information, which provides support across the UK to anyone affected by a stroke and Talk Tonight - Selby Community Interest Company, which offers a mental health support network to all members of the community.
Ben Rowlin, client director at Aon’s Hull office, said: “FC Humber is an exemplary club. Its commitment to positively changing and impacting lives across the region through its community foundation is incredibly important and will make a real difference.
“We’re delighted to be the main sponsor as Aon is committed to making a positive impact in the local community as well, and we know that our Humber clients and Aon colleagues in the Hull and Kirmington offices will benefit from FC Humber’s community programme.”
Richard Smales, who became club chairman in October 2020, is taking a new approach with the club, which started with a new name and brand that is aligned to the region which the team plays for and represents. Smales added: “I am delighted to have Aon as our principal club sponsor, which is testament to everyone’s hard work at the club over the last few months as we look to do things right both on and off the pitch.
“The aspirations are to take the club as high up as possible. Of course we all want to win trophies and achieve success but success for us can also be achieved in many different ways. Success is also through the Community Foundation by working with school retention programs, developing kids to become more active and engaged, seeing two to four-year olds playing sports or helping someone with their mental health. Everything we do has a measurement of success, which is something we are proud to promote.
“You can't reinvent the wheel in football, but what we can do is stand out and do things a little differently and that is what we are trying to achieve here. Having the support from a firm like Aon can only help push us further to achieve our goals and ambitions.”
The final part of the sponsorship deal will see the Aon logo adorn the club shirts and kit.
