Expion director receives award for schools programme volunteering
A director of Silverstone based recruitment specialist, Expion Search and Selection has received an award for her outstanding contribution as a business volunteer to Silverstone Park’s school’s programme for the second year running.
The Inspiration for Innovation (I4I) programme, based at Silverstone Park, seeks to provide students with meaningful experiences with local employers and provide them with insights into the career opportunities available to them.
Having continued to support the programme throughout the 19/20 academic year, Caroline Vooght was awarded, alongside TD Group’s Tony Priest, the Tom Maccabee Inspiration for Innovation Volunteer of the Year Award, with the Automotive 30% Club.
Throughout the academic year, Caroline worked with Tony to boost awareness of potential career opportunities through a series of tailored events at local educational facilities. This included Kingsthorpe College, Northampton, The Buckingham School and Sponne School, Towcester which, in the 2019/20 academic year, reached more than 1,000 Key Stage 3 (KS3) students aged between 12 and 14 years.
Caroline, who specialises in recruiting into the FMCG sector, not only participated in a variety of events but volunteered additional time and support by visiting schools in her own time. Commenting on the award, Caroline said: “Starting a career is hard to do, and young people need support, along with the right people around them to guide, advise and encourage.
“As a parent myself, I’ve had recent first-hand experience of watching young people navigate CV writing and interviews, along with making decisions about their future and career path. Coupled with my years as a recruiter, this inspires me to want to support as many young people as possible to have the best possible chances of success, regardless of the path they have chosen.”
Tim Macabee, who was instrumental in bringing Silverstone Park developer MEPC and the Automotive 30% Club together to help get the school programme off the ground, and presented this year’s award to the winners commented: “Caroline’s and Tony’s contributions have been prolific. Inspiration for Innovation is there to improve the information for young people at a really important stage of their lives, and it’s great to have volunteers, like Caroline and Tony, who are so passionate about supporting young people by helping them understand the opportunities and giving them the confidence to pursue their ambitions.”
