A law firm with a growing footprint across Yorkshire and the North East has marked the next stage in its expansion journey by launching a new office in the capital of the region’s agricultural and equestrian world.

Milners solicitors has opened the doors to its latest base – its fifth - in the historic North Yorkshire market town of Malton.

The office will be spearheaded by a trio of familiar faces to the Ryedale community. Solicitors Sarah Hubery, partner and head of Family Law, and Andrew Little, head of Commercial Property, as well as April Gibson, Commercial Property executive, all live in and around Malton and have worked there for many years.

The new office will initially be based at Stanley Harrison House sitting adjacent to the rail and bus stations. It will act as a springboard for future growth in the summer with the opening of a bigger, dedicated presence in the town centre after a full refurbishment.

Managing partner, Simon Bass, said: “Malton is a significant hub and gateway to the equestrian and agricultural landscape, and we’re thrilled to launch in the heart of this thriving community for the first time.
“This expansion represents a natural progression for us, as we have built up over several years a strong portfolio of personal and business clients across Malton and the wider North Yorkshire area.

“We have a growing specialism in rural affairs and agriculture, and a commitment to meet the needs of clients in both the farming and horse racing worlds at such a pivotal time for them, their families and the future of their estates.”

He added: “As a people-powered law firm, the residents of Malton and beyond will be able to draw upon the home-grown Ryedale talent of Sarah, Andrew and April right on their doorstep.

“Our Malton base will also link seamlessly into our growing network of offices spanning Leeds, Harrogate, Pontefract and Darlington, and our 50-strong team covering a wide range of legal specialisms.

“These include our private client team – independently ranked in the top 3 per cent in the UK for customer satisfaction – as well as colleagues working in many other legal fields, such as employment law, construction litigation, property disputes, corporate and commercial law, personal injury, professional negligence and residential conveyancing.

“As one of Yorkshire’s longest-established law firms – we celebrate our 130th anniversary next year – we are proud of our local roots and national reach. We are delighted that Malton will be central to our journey as part of this milestone moment.”

Sarah is a former pupil of Malton School, a graduate of The College of Law, York, and currently serves on a local Parish Council. She is one of the most respected and experienced family solicitors in the North of England, advising on the full spectrum of family law matters from complicated matrimonial finances through to divorce and child arrangements.

Andrew has brought more than 11 years’ specialist legal expertise in commercial and agricultural property to Milners, the majority of which was spent at a firm local to Malton.

He is one of the most recognised and respected property solicitors in the area, with a distinguished knowledge of the local landscape. He is the ‘go to’ for even the most complex of property transactions and has long established connections with both individuals and businesses alike.

April has been part of the legal community in Malton for over 23 years. Her role spans all aspects of commercial, agricultural and residential conveyancing, with particular expertise in unregistered land, including the preparation of epitomes of title, equitable assets, as well as managing complex first registrations.
