In collaboration with City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, David Wilson Homes has opened the new roundabout near its Centurion Meadows and Imperial Court developments, which benefits pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users.
Bradford Councillor Bob Felstead, Conservative Shadow Executive Portfolio Member, Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “Completion of the new roundabout on the A65 has come as a welcome relief to residents and commuters who use this busy stretch of the A65. I’d particularly like to thank David Wilson Homes’ Kevin Hoyland, Project Manager, who has kept me updated on progress throughout construction on site and at the roundabout.”
Centurion Meadows is delivering 428 new homes and Imperial Court is providing a further 47 properties. Together, the developments will underpin over 950 jobs for local people and bring significant investment to the area via its planning agreement.
The funding from David Wilson Homes, which totals £7,816,806.40, forms part of the planning agreement for the new developments and will be used to support services and improve facilities for both new and existing residents in and around the village.
Among the investment, over £6.9 million will be allocated to a wide range of infrastructure improvements decided by the council, which could include road enhancements, flood defences, schools, hospitals and other health and social care facilities, park improvements, green spaces and leisure centres, across the Bradford District.
Gavin Birch, managing director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, said: “We are excited to announce the opening of the new roundabout, which marks a significant stage for our developments in Burley in Wharfedale.
“We are proud to be bringing much needed, quality properties to the area. We have not only contributed to the local area financially, but also in terms of the jobs we have created for local people and the opportunities for potential buyers to progress on the property ladder.
“Investing in local communities is an extremely important part of building a new development. We pride ourselves on our commitment to the local community and strive to support it wherever we can.”
Since the launch of the developments, David Wilson Homes has supported the community through a number of initiatives. These include volunteering to help create a new pétanque pitch, donating plants and equipment to Burley Scouts and Explorers and, most recently, hosting a site visit for pupils at Burley and Woodhead Primary School.
