Caddick has announced that it will be welcoming commercial interior design and build specialists, Design Tonic, into Rose Wharf, its historic Grade II listed building near the River Aire. Design Tonic will be taking approximately 2,450sq ft of space on the third floor of the building, which it is currently refurbishing.
The Yorkshire-based property specialist rescued the former flax mill building in 1996 and has been collaborating with Design Tonic to transform the historic building into a centre of best-in-class workspaces.
As Design Tonic led the refurbishment process, the team fell in love with the industrial character of the building, especially its exposed brick and columns and the large windows providing unmatched views of the River Aire and its surroundings.
Design Tonic was founded in 2019 by Amanda Cook and Joe Darcy, who launched the business based on their shared ethos of building long term trusted partnerships with clients to make the creation and refurbishment of their office spaces as engaging and enjoyable as possible.
The company has always been based in Yorkshire, with its first Wetherby office opening in 2019. Following the rapid expansion of its team, Design Tonic moved to a larger premises in Scarcroft two years later.
The growth of the team has also led to a number of client wins with leading organisations including Leeds United Football Club, Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Caddick. These successes have enabled Design Tonic to explore different design projects and consolidate its commitment to provide exceptional spaces throughout the city.
The team has always appreciated being in close proximity to the vibrant and lively city of Leeds and when the opportunity to work on Rose Wharf arose, Amanda and the team happily took on the challenge of creating an ‘out of this world’ modern workspace within a heritage setting.
This is the third letting at Rose Wharf in a matter of months, with Caddick recently welcoming Rabbit Hole Coffee, who will occupy the lower-ground floor, and having renewed its lease with longstanding tenant Curtins following the extensive refurbishment.
Amanda Cook, director said: “Moving our offices to Rose Wharf marks a proud milestone in our journey as a team and a business and it signals the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our long-term relationship with Caddick. We instantly fell in love with the building’s charm and heritage and its city-centre proximity and picturesque riverside views make it the perfect setting for a workplace.
“With on-site amenities like the business lounge, bookable meeting rooms, and the outdoor areas, such as the riverside walking and biking paths, Rose Wharf offers unmatched flexibility. We’re also excited to embrace sustainable travel with the EV parking facilities and the new cycle storage hub, and we'll be providing electric bikes for our team to encourage them to make use of these. This encourages everyone to make use of our new office space as a hub for collaboration, networking, and team events. As summer is approaching, the terrace will also provide the perfect setting for hosting our own gatherings, allowing us to connect with the vibrant community already established here.”
Hollie Shackleton, associate director at Caddick Developments, added: “It’s great to welcome Design Tonic as our newest tenants at Rose Wharf. Having worked closely together to enhance the historic features of the building, while providing a modern and flexible workspace with best-in-class amenities and communal spaces, we’re now excited for this new chapter in our journey. We’re looking forward to having the Design Tonic team move into the newly renovated office and to be hosting such creative and collaborative minds who are already making a great impact across the city of Leeds.”
