Councillor Lynn Petrini opens £2.9m specialist nursing home
The Lord Mayor of Kington Upon Hull, Councillor Lynn Petrini, has visited Exemplar Health Care’s £2.9 million specialist nursing home in Hull, to officially mark the opening.
Councillor Lynn Petrini, was invited to cut the ribbon and unveil a plaque to mark the official opening of the home earlier this month. The care home, which opened its doors to its first resident earlier this year, has undergone a £2.9 million refurbishment to provide Kingston Upon Hull with a new state-of-the-art, specialist adult nursing home.
Marmaduke, a one storey home, and Exemplar Health Care’s second specialist care home in Hull, will support 18 adults living with complex mental and physical health conditions. Every bedroom will come with an en-suite wet room and there will be all ground floor living with easy access to the sensory garden areas. Marmaduke also has welcoming communal spaces, including landscaped gardens, for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Lynn said of her visit: “I am delighted to be here for the opening of Marmaduke care home. The team at Exemplar Health Care have done a fantastic job in designing the space to such a high standard, and it’s great to see so many locals working and supporting the care home.
"I’ve had the opportunity to take a tour and to see first-hand that every room is personalised and tailored to each resident, and that the care workers and nurses are committed to offering the very best care. Marmaduke represents the future of all care homes and the residents are so deserving of a home like this one.”
Speaking about the opening, Katie Capes, the commissioning home director said: “We are so thrilled to have opened our second home in Hull and to have received a warm welcome from the Lord Mayor Councillor.
“This community-based home will provide person-centered care and rehabilitation that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills, and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.
“It is extremely rewarding to be able to support 18 local people with complex health needs, and to provide over 80 stable and local jobs for those wanting to progress their careers.
“All our colleagues have a real passion for ensuring we deliver quality care for every resident, and we’re looking forward to becoming a part of the local community. Our goal is to employ as many local people as possible – and we are pleased that we have been able to recruit local nurses and carers to support our residents.”
