The founder of Yorkshire Brickwork Contractors (YBC), Michael Wynn, has completed a Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management while growing the fledgling construction firm and tripling turnover.

An experienced builder who began his career as an apprentice, Michael, eager to get into the workplace and earn money, left school with little qualifications to work for a popular fast-food chain. With hard work and determination alongside some favourable mentorship, Michael has since worked across the UK on various building sites, becoming a site manager before deciding to start his own company in 2018.

During his 17 years of industry experience, Michael has found continuous professional development crucial in both personal and company advancement as he works towards launching a new venture which will enable him to provide a seamless construction experience for clients across the UK.

Michael Wynn, managing director, commented: “Having started my career as an apprentice after leaving school at an early age, I have always demonstrated an eagerness to be the best at what I do. Holding a spotless reputation as a construction company that completes contracts to the highest client satisfaction is my main goal.”

“At the beginning of lockdown, I started working on my Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management thinking I would have some additional time on my hands to further my professional development. Surprisingly, we’ve been incredibly fortunate not to have lost any clients or projects and have worked hard to grow the company with plans to expand into additional sectors.”

The firm plans to recruit over 30 new members of staff and further expansion into new services such as groundworks and civils is in the pipeline.
