Community Foundation for Calderdale announce new appointments
The Community Foundation for Calderdale is pleased to welcome Rachel Burnett and Amanda Lawson to the staff team who work to give out over £1 million worth of grants each year in addition to flood and Covid19 related grants.
Rachel Burnett is a Grants Officer with a strong background in the NHS, the third sector and grant making. She is responsible for supporting voluntary sector organisations to access grants, processing grant applications, assisting applications and project management of grant making.
Rachel explained, “As a Mum, I feel passionate about supporting our local community. I’m pleased that I am going to be doing something to make a difference to organisations who are making such a huge difference on the ground. It’s rewarding to be able to use my experience in grant making to help voluntary sector organisations to enable them to provide important services to help people in our community and it’s a privilege to facilitate that happening.”
Amanda Lawson is joining as finance manager and is responsible for leading the finance team managing the accounts, working closely with the grants team, and providing information for the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees. A Global Chartered Management Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in industries including engineering, manufacturing, financial services and NHS, she also holds the FMAAT qualification and has been a Trustee for a Pre-School and a Primary School Governor.
Amanda commented, “I’m relishing the opportunity to join the team and get involved in helping address issues that affect local people. It’s a pleasure to be working for an organisation who creates outcomes that make such a big difference in so many peoples’ lives.”
Steve Duncan, CEO of the Community Foundation added, “We certainly have been busy over the last 12 months, and we have some exciting plans for the next 12 months so we are delighted to have Rachel and Amanda joining our team and welcome them warmly.”
