Chow Down Halloween Weekender
Chow Down is all set to say “see ya” to summer with the announcement of a full September programme – and bookings are on sale now.
When the pandemic put a stop to Chow Down’s plan to take 12 events on tour throughout the UK in 2020, the food venue launched at Temple Arches Leeds for 10 pop-up weekends during summer. This year, the outdoor drinking and dining event has reached new levels – and it all looks set to continue, with exciting future plans in the pipeline.
With autumn just around the corner and the success of hosting the British Street Food Awards just behind it, Chow Down is ready to give summer a proper send-off.
Thirsty Thursday returns, with two-for-one on drinks between 4pm and 7pm every week. Resident cocktail bar, Tipple, will be on hand with an ever-rotating menu, including Guava & Kiwi Punch, The Chow Down Heavy Sipper, Ribena Margarita, White Chocolate Espresso Martini, a Summer Sangria and many more.
And when it comes to food, nothing but the tastiest line-up awaits. Expect to find The Middle Feast, Shoot The Bull (former Multistories residents) Farsley Fire and Smoke, Crunched, Hun Street Kitchen, Tikka Chance On Me, Goodtimes Tacos, Takin’ Care of Burgers, Get Wurst, Spuds n Bros, Luigi Street Food and What The Cluck – with Scoop taking care of desserts with a new range of incredible sundaes.
September music
Prepare for a vibrant line-up of DJs and bands to hit the decks this September, with tunes from the likes of Erol Alkan, Alan Dixon, James Holroyd, PBR Streetgang, Tristan da Cunha, New York Brass Band, Loud Noises, Mookie and The Bab and more.
**Camp Presents: A Drag Extravaganza **
For one weekend only, some brand new entertainment is coming to Chow Down stage. From 4pm on Saturday 12 September, Sue Pertrouper will host incredible performances from a stunning line-up of drag queens – including Tiana Daze, Charra Tea and more. The action will be set to your favourite drag anthems, followed by a DJ set by KoKo Kopperz and accompanied by special cocktails from Tipple.
Matt Long, Director of New Citizens and Co-Founder of Chow Down, said: “We are planning to end summer with a bang. It's been incredible to see Chow Down grow over the last year. We are trying new things too, and really can’t wait to launch the Camp Presents Queer Drag Extravaganza on Sunday, plus the return of Erol and favourites PBR Streetgang. As the sun sets on summer, we are working towards an even more action packed winter programme, which will be revealed very soon.”
This season of Chow Down finishes on 2 October – but not for long. The dining experience will be back with a monumental winter programme featuring a spooky spectacular, a winter market and more.
**The Chow Down Halloween Weekender **
From 28 to October, Chow Down is getting spooky, with TSHA and Norfn Gal bringing to life a night of music on Thursday; Camp will be returning for a special drag brunch on Saturday; and a day of family fun with Pop Up and Play Halloween workshops, followed by a grand finale after party on Sunday. Look out for Tipple’s Halloween cocktails, fancy dress competitions, roaming entertainment, and of course, an extra special food line-up featuring the likes of Homeboy Pizza, MorMor, BaoBros23 and Sabroso Street.
