Chadwick Lawrence launches Real Estate Training Academy
Six places available on first course – open to anyone aged 19+
Yorkshire legal firm Chadwick Lawrence is launching Start, a new real estate training academy. The move is part of its overall growth strategy and to help remove some of the traditional barriers young people can face when starting a legal career.
Start is the brainchild of operational project manager Amanda Ambler and training manager Kayleigh Needham. Amanda, who has more than 12 years’ experience in conveyancing, says: “This is an exciting development for us, and for young people looking for their first move into conveyancing. Our goal is to grow our 70-strong Real Estate Team and lead the future of the industry.”
She continues: “The aim of the academy is to attract new trainees who may otherwise not have the chance to move into a real estate role, because many firms are focused on recruiting experienced staff. Having an existing legal qualification has been a barrier to entry for too long. And can hinder business progression. We want to change that and welcome law grads, college leavers and school leavers with and without legal qualifications and help them become great conveyancers.”
Start will offer a new ‘fast-track’ learning and development programme (over eight weeks instead of a minimum of 12). It will be delivered by the Chadwick Lawrence experts and consist of classroom-based training in all areas of conveyancing law, client management, and working on live cases, from their Paragon Business Village Wakefield office.
The firm is also in talks to get the course accredited as an Apprenticeship scheme.
Who is the training academy for?
The academy is for law graduates, people who have an entry level law qualification, and school and college leavers who don’t have formal qualifications but want a career in real estate. At the end of the course, graduates will receive a formal qualification and join the Real Estate Team, where they will work their own caseloads with fully structured personal development plans and one-to-one manager support.
Why choose a legal career in Real Estate? Amanda says: “Conveyancing is a great career. One day you’re helping first time buyers make the biggest move of their lives, and the next managing legal compliance on large property portfolios. It’s ever evolving, with lots of opportunity for development and your chance to help us stay ahead of the competition.”
