Calibre Scientific UK has taken on a further 1,800 sq. ft of office and lab space at UKSE’s Innovation Centre in Sheffield city centre after expanding its team to 21 strong.
Located in the heart of Sheffield and close by to the Universities, the new space will support the firms growth plans which will see the further expansion of its team as well as investment in its infrastructure, helping put them at the fore-front of the global life-science market.
Over the past seven months, Calibre Scientific UK has provided a wide range of products and services in support of the UK’s action against the Global pandemic, including provision of viral transport medium and lysis buffer – both used in the clinical testing of Covid 19 – through to antibody and antigen testing kits for diagnostic use.
Calibre Scientific UK is formed of BioServUK, Molecular Dimensions, Protein Ark and Kalon Biological, three of which are based at the UKSE Innovation Centre.
The Innovation Centre is also home to a range of technology companies, some of which are leaders in their field. There are currently 4 units available at the site which vary in size.
Andy Wright, general manager commented: “After moving to the Innovation Centre in 2013, what we found was an environment that supported our growth and shared our ambition to develop by assisting us with additional space, business support and an environment focussed on our needs.
“The flexibility of the UKSE team and the accessibility and facilities at the site made our further expansion at the Innovation Centre a clear step forward, allowing us to benefit from the talented graduates from the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University and further enhance our team and offering.”
Keith Williams, regional manager at UKSE added: “After working with the team which make up Calibre Scientific UK for the last seven years, it’s been great to see them grow from a start-up team of four people to a business that has a global presence and is creating jobs in Sheffield.
“The Innovation Centre provides a high-quality working environment for growing companies, in a great location close to the city centre and Universities. Businesses do not have to be tied to a term lease and can focus on delivering their services rather than managing the facilities in which they work.”
