In previous print issues of TopicUK Kirkless & Calderdale, the UCVR (Upper Calder Valley Renaissance) have been promoting individual networks in the Calder Valley as they are established, or supported to grow.
This is part of the work the UCVR Is doing, working closely with the Calderdale business support team to build more resilient business networks in each of the towns flooded in 2015: Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge, Elland & Brighouse.
Sarah Moss, UCVR’s Business Network Facilitator, works directly with the leads of each business network to help them to increase membership, attract interesting speakers and access funding for each group’s development. Sarah says “Recent successes include establishing a new network in Elland town centre and facilitating funding for other networks to support their growth and future sustainability”.
Sarah added that “the UCVR offer free business mentoring support. Piloted in Todmorden, we are working to extend the scheme throughout the Calder Valley. This offers free, one-to-one support for business affected – directly or indirectly – by the floods. This allows local shops, manufacturers and other companies to share some of their needs and work on solutions with experienced business people”.
For more information on the networking project or if you are interested in being a mentor or mentee, contact Sarah to discuss the opportunities:
