Two Yorkshire manufacturers have joined forces to develop a new generation of accessible bathing products designed to make independent living easier for people across the UK.
Huddersfield-based bath and shower tray specialist Trojan has partnered with Keighley designer and manufacturer RBT Bathrooms to launch the new Living Showers range, a collection that has been three years in development and is now being produced in the region.
The collaboration has resulted in the creation of the ‘Bath Out Shower In’ (BOSI®) system - a UK-made bath replacement solution that allows homeowners to future-proof their bathrooms quickly and affordably in just one day without major renovation work.
The launch marks a significant expansion of Trojan’s Bathe Easy collection, which has focused primarily on accessible baths since its introduction in 2015.
Trojan has expanded its accessible bathing portfolio following the acquisition of Northallerton-based Mantaleda Bathrooms in 2020. The firm has invested heavily in research and development to meet growing demand for inclusive design, with over 16 million people in the UK now reporting a disability.
David Mosley, managing director at Trojan, said: “As Yorkshire manufacturers, we’re proud to be leading innovation in a sector that’s becoming increasingly important as our population grows and ages. The Living Showers range supports a real and rising need for adaptive bathroom solutions that combine safety, style, and dignity.
“In Trojan’s 50th year, we are proud to continue our legacy of innovation and hope this solution will be embraced by the market for many years to come.”
The new range, which includes five accessible showering solutions, was co-developed at Trojan’s facilities with RBT Bathrooms founder Robert Bolton, who spent five years refining the ergonomic design to cater to the market. Trojan also provided space at its Mantaleda site in North Yorkshire to enable local production and collaboration.
Robert commented: “This partnership has shown the power of local manufacturing and design working hand-in-hand. By keeping the process within Yorkshire, we’ve been able to develop, test, and refine the concept at speed while ensuring the highest possible quality. It gives me a great sense of pride to see the product achieve its potential and the benefits it brings to the end user.”
