Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber has appointed a new marketing manager to helping businesses across the region access help and support to realise their full potential.

In his new role, Matthew Trueman will be responsible for driving growth of the 1100 strong member organisation, as well as signposting businesses across the region to the wide range of activities delivered by the Chamber, including networking events, training and practical support to help businesses navigate their way thought a changing business landscape.

An award-winning marketeer, Matthew joins the chamber from specialist apprenticeship training provider Whyy? Change, where he rapidly rose through the ranks; initially joining a marketing intern he quickly progressing in his career to become head of communications.

In 2023, Matthew was named South Yorkshire’s Technology & Digital Apprentice of the Year, recognising his outstanding contributions in his role digital sector. He holds a Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing and a Level 6 Marketing Manager Apprenticeship from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). In his spare time, Matthew acts as vice-chair of education for CIM Yorkshire, where he successfully collaborates with universities, as well as supporting individuals taking the first steps in their marketing career.

Matthew brings with him a strong track record of delivering effective, creative marketing campaigns, and he is no stranger to Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber having worked closely with the organisation to help businesses overcome skills shortages in their workforce.

Speaking about his appointment, Matthew said: “Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber plays a vital role in supporting the local business community and I’m looking forward to using the skills I’ve developed during my career to supporting the Chamber’s members and ensuring that the voice of business across South Yorkshire is seen and heard.

The chamber plays an incredibly diverse role, from hosting networking events, delivering training and of course celebrating the achievements of local businesses through it’s annual business awards, and it’s an exciting opportunity to help businesses across the region to connect and engage with the organisation.”
