Alpaca back 16yr old Ginetta driver all the way
Based in Wetherby, Rob Ashall and Richard Turner founded business growth consultancy Alpaca in 2014, with a driving ambition to set themselves apart from the competition with a commitment to thinking differently.
It’s this approach that sees Alpaca and their legal brand Alt-Legal teaming up with 16-year-old up and coming racing driver Will Aspin as lead sponsor for the 2021/22 season, as he competes in the GT5 Championship as part of the Yorkshire based Ginetta race series.
MD Richard Turner states, “We were approached by Mark Mildren, founder of Little Agency in Leeds, who brought us the opportunity knowing that we were both car lovers and looking for a way to bring a bit more presence to the Alpaca group of brands”.
Signing the sponsorship deal in a matter of weeks, the two co-founders say it’s been a privilege to be involved. “So far, we’ve watched Will take a podium in every race over the first two race weekends, and you can see a real raw talent. We’d seen footage of him in the Ginetta Junior Championship last year, so knew that he had the skill. What’s clear from watching him make the step up is the intellectual ability he has. His clinical, calculating style in the first few races has seen him secure podiums while seeing off more experienced competition”.
Will’s dad, David Aspin, Founder and CEO of Munroe K, which owns and operates the prominent White Rose Park in Leeds added “It brings me much pride to see Will’s continued progress as he sets out on his ambition to make a career from racing. What makes it all the more impressive is that Will is still too young to get behind the wheel of a car on the roads in the UK! It’s tremendous that Richard and Rob have seen Will’s potential and chosen to sponsor the car for the season.”
Will Aspin added “It’s really great to have the support of Richard, Rob and the Alpaca team for the season. What’s really cool is knowing that they are both massive petrol heads too! Hopefully I can get the brands plenty of TV coverage over the rest of the season, maybe even at the top of the podium very soon!”
