A charitable start to 2020 for Towngate PLC
In the face of a challenging and somewhat unpredictable few months, commercial and industrial lettings specialist Towngate PLC was determined to kick off the year with a round of positive deeds – offering help and support to those who need it most.
As part of Towngate’s annual giving initiative, a total of £15,000 has already been donated in Q1 of 2020 – shared amongst various beneficiaries, selected by the firm’s charity committee. Among the recipients were Kirkwood Hospice, Marie Curie, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice – all of whom deliver specialist care to patients with life-shortening or terminal conditions.
An additional £5,000 was also donated to a group in Bradford devoted to delivering PPE equipment to the NHS and community healthcare providers.
A tenant of Towngate Business Centre, Everite Road, Widnes – Justin Young of Q Delivery Services Limited – has been busy making essential deliveries in the local area. Justin has been running food and supplies to a well-known supermarket, distributing essential sink units to newly constructed Nightingale Hospitals – temporarily set up in England in response to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Furthermore, after enlisting the help of British Gas with a donation of a fleet of vans, Justin Young has also been delivering food parcels to those in need during the crisis.
Dina Mistry, secretary for Towngate, has been helping to prepare, pack and deliver fresh Indian meals to members of the Bradford Police Force, who are working tirelessly through the night to keep Bradford residents safe during COVID-19.
In addition, Dina and husband Henry have been fundraising to provide treats and gifts for pharmacy departments within local hospitals as a ‘thank you’ for working around the clock, to supply vital medication to patients in need. Dina also recently joined thousands of NHS Volunteers donating their time to deliver food, pick up prescriptions and make phone calls to reach out to vulnerable, lonely members of the community who may be struggling during lockdown.
Commenting on these various acts of charity, Towngate’s marketing manager, Julia Ford commented: “During these dauting times, we believe it’s important to help in whatever we can, giving back to a community we love. It’s encouraging to know that by donating time, supplies and food we can truly help those who need it the most. We are extremely proud of the work everyone has been involved in so far this year.”
