What a busy week last week. Not only were we putting the finishing touches to TopicUK’s first Yorkshire edition that is out next week, I was out and about at various events.
I had attended the press night at Wicked and delighted that I will be going again on Friday this week! What a fantastic performance by everyone involved. If you have not seen it yet, don’t miss out, it’s at the Grand Theatre for another week, but I think tickets are limited now.
On Wednesday I was a guest of the CBI at a media dinner at the fabulous Dakota Hotel in the centre of Leeds. We had a very interesting debate and it was great to catch up with sponsors Barclays and Pinset Mason as well as other media colleagues.
Thursday night and it was off to Wakefield for the annual Wakefield Express Business Awards where we were representing one of our amazing partners Penny Appeal. I am delighted to report that their chairman Adeem Younis was the winner of Entrepreneur of the Year and another TopicUK partner, Production Park won best business of the year.
On Friday I attended a fabulous 60s lunch as guest of TopicUK partners, Chadwick Lawrence at Aspire in Leeds. I was limited with time and did extend my taxi because this was such a brilliant event and anyone who was anyone in Leeds was there! I left with some very fetching 60’s ‘tack’ of sun glasses, earrings and headband. There was a fab 60s Beatles tribute band playing and many recognisable faces joining in the fun!
Finally on Saturday I headed back to Wakefield and Thornes Park for the annual Eid Festival organised by partners Penny Appeal in conjunction with West Yorkshire Police and Wakefield Council. The inaugural event was last year and this year it was bigger and better, amazing effort by all involved in bringing together people of all faiths and none!
Busy week next week as we have our re-brand event and officially launch TopicUK Yorkshire. Thank you to Sir Rodney Walker who will officially open the proceedings at the lovely Dakota Leeds in their Salon Prive on 6th July.
We’re also attending the Principal Hotel York as official partners of the Institute of Directors, Director of the Year Event for the third year running. Our partner Adeem Younis is up for an award, so fingers crossed for him. He won young director last year and was highly commended in the national’s.
We now turn our attention to Urban Market, our new publication which is launching in August, more to come on that soon, but watch this space for this exciting new publication!
