125th anniversary of Theatre Royal Wakefield – save a seat

Built in 1894, Theatre Royal Wakefield, the jewel in Wakefield’s crown, was the design and vision of famous architect Frank Matcham.  Since its conception, Matcham’s Theatre has been at the heart of the Wakefield community – no matter what its use – whether as a theatre, or cinema house, or Lucky Seven’s Bingo Hall!

Once again a thriving theatre we are working hard to make sure that we are around for at least another 125 years. Not everyone knows it, but Theatre Royal Wakefield is a charity and does not receive any regular public funding, we rely greatly on the generous support of our local community to be able to ensure that our fabulous Theatre says around for another 125 years!

To ensure Matcham’s Theatre is around to be enjoyed by generations to come, Theatre Royal Wakefield are embarking on a campaign to save the seats. Help us save 125 seats to mark our 125th year!

A donation of £125 will save a pair of seats in the auditorium with £1,250 saving a whole row!  Every donation however large or small is greatly received, to help save your local theatre visit theatreroyalwakefield.co.uk or call our Box Office on 01924 211 311.
