Dan Nutton, (pictured right) owner of Chemex hygiene specialist businesses in Rotherham, Barnsley, Sheffield, Doncaster, Leeds and Hull is expanding his business with the acquisition of Chemex Nottingham and Derby.

Chemex sells cleaning and hygiene products and services to a wide range of commercial outlets from hospitals and care homes to restaurants, schools and hotels. Dan’s business boomed during Covid when demand for hygiene products, particularly by local care homes soared.

Parent company Chemex International was acquired by Taylor Made Franchising in July 2022.

Dan bought his two new businesses from former owner Matt Proud who has sold up to buy a private members club.

Dan said: “My father started the business in 2002; I joined him in 2014 and eventually bought him out earlier this year when he retired. Matt selling up came just at the right time for me. They are great businesses and my team and I look forward to meeting our new customers soon.”

A family business, Dad Keith, although officially retired, is still working for Dan one day a week and his wife Heidi looks after the bookkeeping and accounts.

Dan said: “At Chemex, we are hygiene specialists but very much service-based; we aren’t just a drop-off service. We fit chemical dilution systems, offer infection control training, work as consultants, and offer COSHH training. We sell excellent products and I get great satisfaction from providing a valuable service to my clients. Covid brought home the need for premium hygiene products and I’m excited about the future and building my business even further.”
