Wellington Place kicks off Christmas with charity lights switch on

Leeds Landlord and developer, MEPC is kicking off the festive season with its annual Christmas lights switch on, held at Tower Square in the thriving business district of Wellington Place.

The celebrations will take place on Wednesday 6th of December from 5:30pm, with employees and residents of Leeds invited to attend an evening of Christmas entertainment provided by the Leeds College of Music and a special carol concert performed by Wellington Places’ very own workplace choir. In addition to this, Leeds Arts University have partnered up with Leeds BID to showcase winter animations through a series of projections on the historic Lifting Tower at Wellington Place, which will be visible throughout December.

All donations received on the evening will go towards the ‘Holiday Hunger Leeds’ campaign set up by Leeds Community Foundation, working in partnership with Leeds City Council. Donations to the campaign will provide grants to local projects that run activities during the school holidays, enabling vulnerable children to have access to food, fun activities, learning and to provide support to their families.

MEPC spokesperson, Dominique Simcox, said: “Our annual Christmas light switch on is a great excuse to bring everyone together at Wellington Place for a good cause. We like to support the local community and it’s just one of the many events and initiatives we host throughout the year to do so.”
“It’s also a fantastic opportunity to showcase the incredible local talent from the universities, as well as a chance to have a singalong with our workplace choir.”
