Television star Sherrie Hewson will swap Benidorm for Barnsley when she takes centre stage at the Barnsley Hospice ‘Dining Divas’ fundraiser next month.
Sherrie, who plays hotel manager Joyce Temple-Savage in the popular comedy series, is also the longest-serving panellist on Loose Women. She will be the guest speaker at the event at the Holiday Inn in Dodworth on Sunday 11 November, sharing tales of her glittering career on both stage and screen.
Dining Divas takes place from 11.30am and also includes a prosecco reception, two-course lunch and a retail village featuring luxury brands including Clarins and Temple Spa.
Barnsley Hospice is hoping the event will attract women from across South Yorkshire. Fundraising manager Sam Silverwood said: “It’s not often we get big stars in Barnsley so this is a great opportunity to grab the girls and your glad rags and indulge in some ‘me time’. Sherrie plays the ultimate diva in Benidorm and we are all looking forward to hearing her stories whilst raising much-needed funds in the run-up to Christmas.”
Barnsley Hospice has to raise over £2m a year to care for patients – in addition to £1.6m funding from the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). The charity provides specialist care for anyone in the borough with a life-limiting illness, including cancer, motor neurone disease and heart disease.
Tickets for Dining Divas cost £30, which includes a two-course meal and prosecco. For more information or to book your place, visit www.barnsleyhospice.org or call 01226 244244.
