PRIZED POSSESSIONS AND KEEPSAKES LIE IN THE SHOEBOXES OF YORKSHIRE
New research by safe.co.uk has revealed that the family photo album is Yorkshire’s most prized possession, but with half of the nation (55%) admitting they no longer print their pictures, they are becoming a thing of the past.
Despite half of us in Yorkshire (49 per cent) citing photo albums as our most treasured item, we’re not only failing to make new albums but also to keep existing ones safe for future generations, with over a third (37%) of us admitting to keeping prizes possessions in a shoebox – the worst such offenders in the UK.
With a rise in awareness of local flood and fire disasters in recent years, media attention has often turned to the sentimental loss suffered. Worryingly, still as few as 18 per cent of Yorkshire inhabitants keep treasured items in an actual safe, leaving their irreplaceable possessions exposed to damage.
