GEOFF Miller, who was worked closer than most with Cricket superstar Kevin Pietersen, is the star guest at a special sporting night at Featherstone Rovers later this month.

Miller, the former national selector for England, will be on stage in the Cappers Bar on Thursday, May 28 with a big turnout expected.

The former England and Derbyshire man is now regarded as one of the best sporting speakers on the circuit and the evening will feature stories from his time in charge as well as his playing days. And there will be a Q&A which will also inevitably include lots of debate over Pietersen, who was this week told he doesn’t figure in England’s plans at the same time as hitting a career-best 326 not out for Surrey!

Featherstone Rovers Commercial Manager Paul Taylor said: “The Pietersen story has dominated the sporting headlines more than any other sport this week. Geoff worked with KP and during his time as national selector England won three ashes series as well as becoming the top nation in the test rankings. His views on Pietersen will be worth the admission money alone and I’m sure it will be a great night.”

Sports broadcaster Nigel Pearson, a lifelong Rovers fan (not the Leicester City Manager!) will host the event.

The evening will also feature an announcement regarding the second Featherstone Rovers Darts night this November which will see a return of Wayne ‘Hawai-501’ Mardle after his sellout appearance last year – and he will be joined by a true legend of the game.

Tickets for the Geoff Miller evening can be purchased from the club website in the events section of the online shop – standard tickets are £12 and limited VIP spaces are available to include a meet and greet with Geoff and priority seating for £20. Fans can also purchase from the Big Fellas Stadium during office hours.
