One World Travel flies in to help urgent appeal

A city centre travel agency has pledged over £3000 to help a local charity.

One World Travel which is based on Teall Street, near to Trinity Walk, is donating £10 from every holiday sold to help fund new beds for Wakefield Hospice.

Owner Samantha Harvey, said: “summer is a busy time for the travel industry but it’s important that we continue to keep raising funds to help the community in which we serve. We thought the quickest way to raise money to fund these two beds urgently needed is to donate money from the holiday bookings. Most people have been touched by the amazing work the hospice does for local people. So it’s only right that we as a business give back and help the Hospice staff do the job to the best of their ability. To do this they need new equipment.”

TopicUK partner One World Travel, will also be collecting spare change and currency if people wish to donate in this way.
Mrs Harvey hopes that they will smash their £3000 target by the end of summer to pay for two beds.

Keeley Harrison from Wakefield Hospice said: “Our specialist beds are over 15 years old and have served us well. The mechanical elements do break which, until now, we have simply been able to repair. Unfortunately, we’ve recently learnt that replacement parts are no longer available for our current beds, therefore they need to be replaced. We are so grateful to One World Travel for their support of the bed appeal in helping to raise funds to pay for two new beds.’

With the generous support of the local community and One World Travel, the hospice will be able to replace all 16 beds this year.
