No need to be brassed off this Christmas; six brass bands will be performing in Meadowhall throughout December to bring Christmas cheer to shoppers over the festive period.
Starting from December 1 with performances until December 23, each week a new band will perform classic Christmas songs for visitors in-centre. Shoppers will be able to take a minuet to forget their trebles, and tune in to some festive numbers as the perfect prelude to Christmas festivities.
Barnsley Brass will be performing from 6pm onwards on December 1, 14, 18 and 19;
Hade Edge Band will be performing 11am-4pm on December 2, and 6pm onwards on December 8;
The Yorkshire Military Band is performing 11am-4pm on December 3, 10 and 17;
The Salvation Army is performing from 6pm onwards on December 7, and 10am-4pm on December 9 and 16;
Dinnington Colliery Band will perform from 10am to 4pm on December 9;
Rotherham Town Brass Band will perform 6pm-10pm on December 15;
And, in the spirit of Christmas, each band will be orchestrating donations for a chosen charity, with donations going to Bluebell Wood Hospice, The Salvation Army and The Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Meadowhall Events Manager Caroline Jansaker: “We’re excited to welcome some of the region’s best brass bands to perform in centre over the festive period.
“For many, the sound of a brass band is synonymous with Christmas, so we’re happy to be spreading some festive joy and raising money for good causes.”
