Leo Moore may not be starring in the latest series of Lord Sugar’s The Apprentice, but he is already a star at Huddersfield-based Yorkshire Country Properties, where he plays a key role within the accountancy team.

Leo joined the award-winning residential property development company in October 2022 and, as his boss Rob Wilkinson, Finance Director, explains, he is a shining example of the importance of hiring apprentices.

Rob commented: “As this is National Apprenticeship Week, it seems appropriate to highlight Leo’s excellent contribution to our close-knit team as well as drawing attention to the importance of employing apprentices to help them fulfil their potential. National Apprenticeship Week is a tremendous initiative.”

The theme for this year’s week from Monday February 5 until Sunday February 11 is Skills for Life and the Government’s Legal Department (GLD) will be holding a number of events to mark the occasion.

A spokesman for the GLD explained: “Apprenticeships play a key role in career development and the widening of opportunities for all. They are an important part of GLD’s learning and development offer, as well as the commitment to provide rewarding careers across all professions and career stages.

“Throughout the week, GLD will be publishing stories from current apprentices, as they share their experiences of training and working at GLD. These will include legal apprentices, as well as those completing apprenticeships for other professions.”

“This is an opportunity for the education and skills sector to celebrate the achievements of apprentices around the country and the positive impact they make to communities, businesses, and the wider economy.”

Leo Moore is studying for an AAT Level 3 Accounting Diploma at Kirklees College in Huddersfield, which he attends one day a week.

Outside of work and college, Leo likes football (supporting Huddersfield Town), gaming, and going to the pub. He takes his driving test on Friday, for which Yorkshire Country Properties wishes him the best of luck.

Leo commented: “I am very grateful to YCP for giving me the opportunity to begin my career in accountancy with them. Learning on the job at YCP, together with my course at Kirklees College, is the perfect combination.”
