During June, the Just Balance conference by Ladies 4 Networking UK (L4NUK), in association with Croft Myl, took place at The Moorlands Inn, Halifax. With over 100 people in attendance, the day was headlined by Debra Searle MVO MBE.
Keynote speaker, Debra, talked about how she confounded the odds by rowing singlehandedly across the Atlantic and has continued to test herself and push the limits ever since. Debra spoke from the heart and with great humour about the strategies she used to keep going in her business life, to help illustrate, in a very human way, what we are all capable of. Debra has a ‘passion for demolishing stereotypes’ and was a founding member of The Business Women’s Network Forum, which is based out of Buckingham Palace and chaired by The Countess of Wessex.
Judith Wright, CEO of Wright Angle Marketing, Deborah Ogden, a nationally respected speaker on Positive Impact and Presence, Nicky Pattinson, who took a market stall in Huddersfield to generate a turnover of nearly £2million per annum and Cheryl Chapman, author of ‘Find Your Why to Become Frickin’ Awesome’ also gave rallying speeches to a captivated audience.
Just Balance partnered up with MNDA (Motor Neuron Disease Association) to raise both money and awareness for the fatal rapidly progressing disease. A raffle was held to raise money for the charity in which nearly £300 was raised.
Motor neurone disease (MND) affects the brain and spinal cord, attacking the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis. There is no cure.
Just Balance was open to all women in business, providing the perfect opportunity to bring together business women from across the UK to connect, build relationships and get a fresh perspective on business topics. Upon initial overwhelming feedback from attendees, it looks as though Just Balance will be making a return next year.
Alongside the conference speakers, a marketplace was held which included exhibitors from Natwest, Ramsdens Solicitors, Appleyard Lees, Passport 2 Success and Look at This Home and to name just a few.
