A BARNSLEY dealership has added the pulling power to a spectacular competition of strength.
The Highland Games Strongest Man competition is being sponsored by Harratts Mitsubishi, who have provided two L200 Series 5 vehicles for the athletes to pull along the track.
The event takes place at the Dorothy Hyman sports stadium at Cudworth on September 25, where the two pick-ups will be linked together — providing a combined weight of 3,720kg. The vehicle pull is one of many tests of strength on the day, with caber tossing, stone lifting and stone throwing all on the programme.
Organiser Andy Picken, from Super Strongman Events, said: “It’s fantastic to have the guys at Harratts back the Highland Games Strongest Man. Partnerships like these help us provide exciting shows for the fans and raise the profile of the sport. It’s not every day you see strongmen pulling not one but two L200’s along a 100m athletics track!”
Andrew Jackson, dealer principal of Harratts, said: “The deal came about when Andy came in as a regular customer, and he asked if we would be interested in being a part of his event. We jumped at the chance — it’s going to be a great event and I can’t wait to see our two pick-ups being pulled along by these incredible athletes.”
