Fundraising opportunity for groups and charities

Huddersfield Live, the town’s new events company that will be delivering this year’s Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival, has announced that it will be staging its second Community Fun Run on Sunday 9 April 2017.

They have gone into partnership with a number of local charities and good causes to stage two runs which will take place at The Stafflex Arena, next to the Storthes Hall Student Village, for adults, families and juniors.

One of the key things about the runs is that they present a fantastic fundraising opportunity as Mark Benton, Under 10s coach for Netherton FC explains:

“We took part in the first Huddersfield Live Fun Run which helped Netherton Under 10s raise over £500 which has gone towards helping with new kit and part funding towards a trip to a football tournament in France. The run was enjoyed by all and was a great way to raise funds. We will be doing the Fun Run in April, to hopefully again raise money for our trip and help towards the building of a new club house for our club”.

Director of Huddersfield Live, Poppy Stahelin, is delighted about the event and hopes that many more local charities and good causes will get involved saying: “The whole idea of Huddersfield Live is about bringing events to the town which are great fun and also have a real value for residents and businesses. We want these runs to be enjoyable for everyone taking part and also an excellent opportunity to raise funds and awareness for good causes across the town”.

The company hopes to attract a significant number of participants and will be offering  both a 5k run and a 1k run.

Tickets (which are strictly limited) are now on sale priced at £8 for adults and £4 for juniors (under 16). There will also be a family ticket available at £20 for two adults and two juniors (saving £4) and people wanting to purchase tickets should go online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/events-live

Poppy also points out that “running” is not essential: “The events are for everyone and we hope that individuals and family groups will choose to run, jog or even walk around the course. At the end of the day it’s all about having a good time”.

Further details about other events will be announced soon and information about Huddersfield Live is available by emailing info@huddersfieldlive.co.uk
