‘Content is King’ is the title of the next free business support seminar for musicians being organised by Enterprising Barnsley.
The seminar will explore how to market and promote music both online and offline and there will also be a chance to meet other local people working in the music industry.
The free event will be held in the Digital Media Centre in Barnsley on Wednesday March 25th and will run from 5pm to 8pm.
Guest speaker will be Grant Brydon who is a journalist and blogger specialising in hip-hop and new music. Newcastle-based Grant is also the online music editor at RWD Mag, the UK’s biggest youth lifestyle magazine, and hip-hop editor at award winning music magazine Clash.
Barnsley music network host Damian Baetens, of national creative support organisation Transmit Start-Ups, said: “Getting your music out there and promoting it in the right way to get it noticed and listened to is essential and this will be the subject of this month’s seminar.
“It’s great to bring back the music network seminar so quickly after the success of the last one. There was a great atmosphere then and a good turn-out of talented musicians from the Barnsley area.”
The Barnsley Music Network was set up six months ago, and is funded through the Enterprising Barnsley business support programme, which is run by Barnsley Council.
The previous two events have covered how to run a successful music business, how to make money from ‘sync’ and how to protect your intellectual property.
