On Monday 28th August, Penny Appeal are taking part in the charity salvage at Leeds Festival.

Every year tens of thousands of festival goers descend on Bramham Park in Leeds for a weekend music festival, but as you maybe have seen over the years not everyone takes home everything they take to site.

Thousands of tents, sleeping bags, air beds, roll mats etcs along with tonnes of food, are left behind each year which is saved by charities and food banks. Penny Appeal are putting together a team of volunteers who are interested in reclaiming some of these items for them to use locally and help support those most in need. They are looking for volunteers who can trawl through tents and bags for non-perishable food, who can collect/deflate air beds, collect roll mats and pack away tents which can be used later.

Would you be interested in volunteering on either one or both days to help scavenge and collect these items?

On Monday teams are allowed on to site between 3pm and 8pm after the festival goers have left.

You will be working outside in a field for the duration. Hopefully, the weather is warm over the next week and over bank holiday weekend so the ground is very dry, but it potentially could be a wet boggy mess.
