The founder of Brighouse-based training and development company has headed up a business networking event designed to help young people obtain the skills and experience they need to secure apprenticeships and jobs.

Martin Haigh, founder of Lattitude7, is co-chair of Working Wonders, which was set up in 2014 to provide practical support with CV writing, job applications and interviews and financial support towards the cost of work uniforms.

The charity also helps businesses seeking to recruit apprentices, offering practical support with administration and paperwork as well as ongoing assistance.

The recent event saw local businesses attend to find out about the charity’s work with young people, and guests from the Business for Calderdale group were given an insight into how the charity had already helped 62 people into work over the past couple of years.

Visitors were also asked to complete a pledge card indicating areas in which they could help the charity in support of young people in Calderdale.

Martin said: “The feedback and offers of support was overwhelming and we intend to follow up as many leads as possible. “
